British, Dutch Embassies Move To Smaller Premises In Budapest

The British and Dutch embassies will move to smaller premises to save costs. The Embassy of the Netherlands is moving to the Office Centre complex in Kapás Street housing the Swedish Embassy, the Dutch ambassador said. The move is in response to constraints due to the economic crisis over the past years, leading to staff reductions in foreign missions, Gajus Scheltema said.

Ms Theresa Bubbear has been appointed Chargé d'Affaires Ad Interim to Hungary. She took up her appointment on 27 April. She will succeed former British Ambassador to Hungary, Mr Jonathan Knott, who finished his posting on 26 April 2015. Theresa will lead the Embassy until the arrival of the new Ambassador to Hungary in early 2016.

On 13 August Chargé d’Affairs Theresa Bubbear co-opened the Olympic exhibition of the Hungarian Jewish Museum. In the year of the London Olympic Games, the exhibition honours the achievements of both known and less known former Hungarian Jewish Olympic champions.
