Casinos operating in Hungary were due to pay combined gambling tax of 7.375 billion forints (EUR 23m) in 2015, state secretary of the Economy Ministry András Tállai said. Reduced by concession fees already paid, the amount came to 3.086 billion, the state secretary added in his answer to a question by opposition MP István Ikotity, published on Parliament’s website

The green opposition LMP will file a criminal report for abuse of power and mismanagement in connection with Eximbank lending 6.72 billion forints (EUR 21.3m) to government commissioner Andrew G Vajna’s company to buy media group TV2, according to press reports. LMP co-leader András Schiffer said that the bank should not “stuff the pockets of a government-friendly offshore knight with loans”.

In the letter from state secretary András Tállai responding to the query by MP István Ikotity of green party LMP, data show visitor numbers to Hungarian casinos rose from 205,000 in 2011 to 300,000 in 2012.
