Minister of Human Resources Zoltán Balog warned against believing “fake news” about the state of the Hungarian public healthcare system in his Semmelweis Day speech on Monday, reports Hungarian news channel HírTV.
“We would like to celebrate among the noise of battle,” Balog said.

The paper reports that the biggest shortages are in Nógrád, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Békés, Somogy and Tolna counties — which just happen to be among the poorest counties in Hungary (and the EU).

The average gross wage in Hungary rose by 10.7% year-on-year to 274,800 forints (EUR 848) in February, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. Net wages grew at the same rate as gross wages, also climbing by 10.7% to 182,700 forints (EUR 582.9).

The average gross wage in Hungary rose by an annual 5.4% to 262,200 forints (EUR 835) in September, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. Net wage growth outpaced the increase, climbing 7% to 174,393 forints due to a one percentage point cut in the personal income tax rate from January.
