This international group rehearses weekly (Sunday evenings, from 5 to 8 pm) in Budapest’s 5th district, and gives concerts in some of Budapest’s finest churches. Yesterday by 11 a.m. it became clear that there was no chance of an electoral alliance between the socialists and the representatives of the Demokratikus Koalíció. Perhaps there never was because, although Attila Mesterházy only a few hours before this final meeting gave a 50-50 chance of reaching an understanding, I suspect that the decision had already been reached to reject the DK proposals.
