The Court of the European Union will try the case of Hungarian judges’ retirement in Luxembourg on Monday, Népszava reports. The European Commission (EC) launched infringement proceedings against Hungary early this year, and later turned to the court after failing to reach agreement with the Hungarian government. The court decided in July to take up the case in a fast-track procedure.

Economics institute GKI's gauge of sentiment in the construction industry remained unchanged in September, but outlooks remain dim, as expectations for new orders remain low, Napi Gazdasag reports. In the latest survey 10% of companies expect higher output, whereas 41% foresaw declines. These respective figures for August were 12% and 42%.

The cabinet has decided to provide Ft 700 million in additional funding for the renovation of the Mátyás Templom (Matthias Church) in Buda, which has been dragging on for years.
