Hungary would be required to take in a total of 1,134 asylum seekers over the next two years under the latest European Commission proposal for dealing with the rise in refugees arriving at EU borders and coastlines. As the plan, released on Wednesday, envisages resettling 60,000 migrants, Hungary would be host to about 2% of the total.
Most Hungarians Would Handle Migration At National Level

Seventy-five percent of Hungarians think that migration should be tackled by member states rather than at European Union level, according to a recent survey conducted by think-tank Századvég. Fully, 83% of respondents said they had heard about the system proposed by the EU which would allocate a quota for the number of asylum-seekers to be received by each member state, the survey showed.
