“Over the past 1100 years, Hungarians have experienced much more serious crises than the current one, but emerged victorious from every one of them”, Minister of Human Capacities Miklós Kásler emphasised at a ceremony in Budapest on Tuesday to present state awards to mark the 20 August national holiday, and awards postponed from the 15 March memorial day of the 1848 revolution.

'Knight Moves' – Sam Havadtoy In New York, Ludwig Museum

It was on view from 13 July, until 2 September 2018. The exhibition focuses on the New York years of Hungarian painter Sam Havadtoy. His work relations with the city’s influential artists throughout the 1970s and ‘80s greatly affected his developing career as an artist.

Two important string soloists are welcomed at this concert conducted by Domonkos Héja. Full and vibrant viola sound, performance suggestiveness and perfect technical preparation – these characteristics define the stage presence of German Tabea Zimmermann, and if we were to replace viola for cello, then the same would be equally true of the musicality of István Várdai.
