The Republic of Korea opened a cultural center in Hungary recently. It’s the eighth in Europe, joining centers in France; Britain; Germany; Russia; Poland; Spain, and it’s the 22nd such cultural center worldwide.

"The Pest German Theatre opened on what is now Vörösmarty Square on 9 February 1812, with two plays by Kotzebue, for which the music was composed by Beethoven. The idea for the establishment of the theatre arose during the reign of Josef II, as Pest was gaining in importance and the growing bourgeoisie had an increasing demand for culture.

"The British Embassy together with the Raoul Wallenberg Association organised a ceremony on 15 October at which a plaque was unveiled commemorating the courageous efforts of Raoul Wallenberg. The Swedish diplomat gave shelter for Hungarian Jews in the building of the British Embassy (Hazai Bank at that time).
