Big Plans For Nyugati & Déli Railway Stations In Budapest

Rail lines leading to Nyugati station will be taken underground and the station rebuilt, Prime Minister’s Office leader János Lázár announced at his Thursday press conference. The reconfiguration will be part of the Liget2 project, which will redesign the area between the train station and the Budapest zoo.

The government has finalised plans for Budapest’s large-scale Liget museum quarter with some changes, László Baán, the project’s commissioner, told a parliamentary committee. The Liget Budapest project’s original plan involved setting up five museums for Hungarian music, fine arts, architecture, ethnography and photography in City Park (Városliget).
