Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party wants a multipronged solution to the problem of illegal migration rather than building reception centres, spokesman Bence Tuzson said. Construction of a 175km fence begins at 12 locations on the Serbian border at 6 a.m. Monday, following preparatory work last week, local news website delmagyar.hu reported on Sunday. Soldiers will take part in the construction along with 318 registered jobless who will be employed as public works staff in two shifts.

Szabó said there are a total of 100 border crossings in Hungary, sixteen of which have been established since 2010.
