This year’s 47th Tour de Hongrie takes place mainly in southern Hungary, from May 13 to 17. The five-stage event will pass through 70 towns in seven counties, with 15 intermediate sprint points for bonus seconds and 12 categorized climbs.

Hosting the first three stages of this year’s Giro d’Italia cycling race “exceeded our wildest dreams”, government commissioner for an active Hungary Máriusz Révész said in a statement late on Sunday. Révész said “at least a quarter of a million people” encouraged riders along the route, contributing to “a sensational mood” and “exceeding all expectations of the Italian organisers”.
