Civil groups officially launched their signature collection drive in connection with four approved referendum questions which would “dismantle the government”. The groups made their first call for 19 issues to be put to a referendum at anti-government demonstrations on March 15 this year.

Anti-corruption protests took place across Hungary today. In Budapest the demonstration started in front of the Eiffel Palace Office Building near the Nyugati (western) train station. A few minutes before the scheduled start of the protest it seemed as though police and members of the press would outnumber the protesters.

The English School of Budapest took part in the UK Comic Relief charity project “Make Your Face Funny for Money” between 16 and 20 March. The money raised was donated to the Piros Orr Bohócdoktorok Alapítvány (Red Nose Clown Doctors Foundation). As in schools across the UK, our children painted their faces and used wigs, hats and props to take souvenir photos, while their parents donated money ...

Fans of J.K. Rowling will remember that a Common Welsh Dragon featured in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’, the fourth book of her immensely popular series. That dragon was green in colour, but the dragon on the flag flying outside the British Embassy today is a vibrant red.
