Hundreds gathered in Budapest for a march marking Roma Pride Day for the fifth time on Saturday. Participants marched from central Blaha Lujza Square to Nyugati Railway Station, demanding equal opportunities for the Roma community and chanting slogans such as “Solidarity!”, “Democracy, rule of law, republic!”, “We belong here!”.

The Budapest Spring Festival will this year feature John Malkovich, Goran Bregović, and programmes marking the anniversary of the 1867 Austro-Hungarian Compromise and Zoltán Kodály’s death, the organisers said on Wednesday. Returning to the festival, Malkovich will perform a new piece for theatre and music scripted by German author Michael Sturminger.

“Geisha” was one of the first Japanese words to enter the Hungarian language, which is why it appears in the title of this exhibition featuring: Authentic Japanese and Chinese objects, and the 'best of Hungarian Japonism'. The exhibition is open until 12 March 2017, and can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
