In the late 1930s, Europe teetered on the verge of what would soon become The 1939-1945 War, or to Americans, the Second World War. Out in Hungary, one newspaper editor was frustrated. He wasted far too much time filling up fountain pens and cleaning up smudged pages. He was annoyed that the sharp tip of his fountain pen often tore the paper.

With the Summer Olympics in London almost upon us, I have been trying to remember anything from past events. I would like to think that the first Olympics I remember was 1972 when swimmer Mark Spitz won 7 gold medals. On Monday the Democrats Abroad Road Trip makes an afternoon stop in Budapest on the first leg of its European-wide tour. The Bus will park from 3:00PM to 6:30PM at Széchenyi tér (formerly Roosevelt tér, near the Chain Bridge in the Academy of Sciences parking lot), to provide a voter registration table for US citizens.
