Anti-corruption protests took place across Hungary today. In Budapest the demonstration started in front of the Eiffel Palace Office Building near the Nyugati (western) train station. A few minutes before the scheduled start of the protest it seemed as though police and members of the press would outnumber the protesters.

April 12th is the date this year for the Children's Railway Day in Hungary. As usual it offers a special train ride and unique programmes, as the 'heritage railcar set' turns 85 years old this year and it's a rare occasion for this railcar to haul more than one of its trailers at the same time.

The service is operated by 10-14-year-old uniformed children - except for the engineer - under the supervision of adults. The narrow-gauge railway, with some open carriages, takes about 50 minutes to cover the 11-km route, mostly through woods.
