Anti-corruption protests took place across Hungary today. In Budapest the demonstration started in front of the Eiffel Palace Office Building near the Nyugati (western) train station. Only long-term programs can be successful but they are expensive and the schools have no money. Civil organisations would do it for free but they hardly get any state support.

Police will carry out a nationwide operation called ‘Sober Easter’ from Thursday to Monday to monitor the roads for drunk and erratic driving. National Police head of department József Óberling said during a similar operation last year, some 26,000 checks found 600 drunk drivers, a rate of 2.2%. Alcohol consumption played a part in 10% of the accidents last year, he said.
