The Afghan embassy in Budapest closed on July 1 for reasons of economy, the Foreign Ministry confirmed on Tuesday. It said the embassy closed, presumably because the Afghan government is cutting its network of embassies for financial reasons. There are some 2,000 Afghans among the 5,000-6,000 asylum seekers staying in Hungary, according to the Helsinki Committee.

Daily Napi Gazdaság, quoting unnamed sources, said that a foreign intelligence agency has handed to the Hungarian authorities details, photographs and copies of the passports of ten terrorist suspects in case they appear among migrants arriving in Hungary.
