Test Starts on Hungarian Section of New Budapest-Belgrade Rail Line
Test operation has started on the Hungarian section of the Budapest-Belgrade railway line, Zsolt Hegyi, the CEO of state-owned transport company MAV Group said in a post on social media.

The Budapest-Belgrade railway line is the largest railway development in recent decades. The Hungairan section now benefits from a 160km double-track rail line that has been completely reconstructed. It allows for a speed of 160 kilometres per hour, Hegyi said.

The journey from Budapest to Belgrade will take three and a half hours, he added. From Budapest, it will take an hour and a half to reach the border.

The project will strengthen international rail connections, the domestic network as well as the transport of the Budapest agglomeration, the CEO said.
