Online retailers have registered accelerated growth since the ban on Sunday shopping came into force on March 15, according to a survey by GKI Digital and Árukereso.hu. In the first quarter, retail sales were up 16% year-on-year at Ft 30 billion. Tesco posted an annual 85% rise in online sales between March and May.

The impact of most shops having to close on Sundays is minimal, as predicted. Customers quickly adjusted to the new measures, NAV told daily Napi Gazdaság.
