The season’s last Grandhouse luncheon on June 16 hosted Dame Jane Goodall of chimpanzee fame before a blockbuster rapt audience of 85 guests, a roster of ambassadors among them, this time not as usual at the Academy of Science but at Kogart House gallery restaurant along the World Heritage listed Andrássy út.

Budapest International Book Festival To Open With Exhibitors From Over Thirty Countries

The 22nd Budapest International Book Festival is to open with around 400 events on Thursday at Budapest’s Millenáris Park. The book fair’s star guest this year will be American writer Jonathan Franzen, whose self-biographical novel Discomfort Zone will be introduced to the public on Saturday. During the festival’s four days, Hungary will host the world’s largest book store.

Easter Sunday and Easter Monday are both public holidays in Hungary, and are packed with fun and feasts for all the family. Húsvét, in Hungarian, has many local customs: Egg painting is one of the most popular, and oldest traditions, along with Easter Sunday fun when the Easter bunny brings presents for children, which they find during the Easter egg hunt.
