Magyar Telekom will dismiss 500 of its 7,500 employees, having reached agreement with its unions, the company said on Monday. Most of the workers will leave at the end of the year, reports Napi Gazdaság. The cuts do not include any retirements nor cuts in executive staff.

The Hungarian Cabinet approved the payment of Ft 2.2 billion in bonuses to Hungary’s most successful athletes at the London Olympics, as well as to support staff. The one-off payments range from Ft 35 million for gold medalists to Ft 2 million for those who finished eighth in their competition.

Gas companies switched off gas at 102,000 households and 13,000 business, while electricity companies cut off service affecting 37,000 households and 3,000 companies.
