Hungarians Households Owe HUF 143 Billion In Utilities
Hungarian households have amassed Ft 143 billion of debt to energy companies as of May 31, half of which is owed to gas companies, according to data from the Hungarian Energy Office, Development Minister Mrs. László Németh reported. Gas companies switched off gas at 102,000 households and 13,000 business, while electricity companies cut off service affecting 37,000 households and 3,000 companies.

Households have fallen behind payment in the case of some three million bills, more than half of which, 1.7 million, are to electricity companies.

Hungarian households owe Ft 70 billion to gas companies, Ft 46.5 billion to electricity providers and Ft 26 billion to district heating firms. Customers are overdue with Ft 37 billion of payments for more than a year, the Development Minster wrote on Parliament’s website.
