German Fashion Retailer Ordered to Pay 100,000+ Customers it Deceived in Hungary

The operator of About You must pay more than Ft 500 million in compensation to hundreds of thousands of customers, the Competition Authority (GVH) announced on Friday.

Payments of Ft 1,750 per person have already begun for eligible consumers.

The competition authority ruled in November that the online fashion retailer had used deceptive practices and exerted psychological pressure on shoppers.

As a result, the GVH ordered the German retailer to pay Ft 505 million to the Hungarian state budget.

In addition, customers who made purchases on the company’s website or mobile application between December 31, 2022 and December 31, 2024 are entitled to the Ft 1,750 compensation.
