Hungary and Germany fully agree on the matter of the embargo ordered by Russia, ministerial commissioner for measures related to the embargo on European Union farm products, Gyula Budai, said in Berlin. Both countries are interested in finding a peaceful solution as soon as possible to the Ukrainian- Russian crisis so that their exporters can return to the Russian market, he added.

The state of Hungary violated rules protecting private ownership when it stripped a tobacconist of his licence in 2013, the European Court of Human Rights ruled. The case was filed by László Vékony of Sopron, in western Hungary, who lost his licence to sell tobacco products after Hungary decided to make the retail trade of tobacco a state monopoly.

Rembrandt and the Painting of the Dutch Golden Age, a large-scale exhibition to run in the Museum of Fine Arts from 1 November surveys the period of 17th-century Dutch art, one of the golden ages of European culture. The exhibition is built around Rembrandt, the greatest master of the period, by whom 20 masterpieces will be on display.
