Hungary’s natural population decline grew in the first eight months of the year as the number of births edged down by 0.6% and the number of deaths was up by 6.9% compared with the same period last year, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reports.

In 2016, 14.5 percent of Hungarians were at risk of income impoverishment, 16.2 percent were severely materially deprived and 8.2 percent could not remain employed on the job market. Only in the second category did Hungary score below the EU average, reports index.hu.
