President of the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH) Attila Péterfalvi states that in its current form the Ministry of Interior’s new bill that would set up a central storage for visual and audio data collected by various authorities would make personal data open for abuse, reports Index.hu.

There were a record number of European Union infringement proceedings against Hungary in 2016, reports Index.hu. According to the EU’s 2016 report, there are 57 ongoing infringement cases against Hungary, a five-year record for the country. Still, Hungary is situated only somewhere in the middle of the playing field of Member States facing infringement proceedings.
