IKEA Magyarország raised its sales by more than 17% to 41 billion forints (EUR 131 m) in the business year ending August 2014, the company reported. Costumer numbers rose by 7% and the value per purchase rose by 10%, Marek Feltl, IKEA managing director for the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia said in the statement.

Consumer prices in Hungary dropped by an annual 0.9% in December, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. Emerging market analysts in London had expected a reading in December of -0.4%. Consumer prices fell by 0.7% in November and by 0.2% on average in 2014.

Some 397 000 Hungarians spent more than 2.15 million guest nights in neighbouring Croatia in 2014, the highest numbers in eight years and an increase of 10% from 2013, the Budapest head of the Croatian Tourism Community, Marin Skenderovic, told the Hungarian news agency MTI.

There's a good chance that Hungarian folk music, dressed up just a bit differently, might become as hot on the world market as Africa or the Balkans were a few years ago.
