Retail sales in Hungary climbed by 4.7% in August from the same month a year earlier, preliminary data released by the Central Statistical Office on Monday show. The increase was the same when adjusted for calendar year effects. The unadjusted rise was down from 6.8% in July. Hungarian students finished in last place among European countries and in 29th place among 34 countries in digital text comprehension, according to a PISA survey conducted in 2012. The results were released only now because Hungarian researchers did not believe that pupils here are so weak. According to the report, Hungarian schools use outdated computers and internet access is limited.
