The European Commission has lifted a ban on the disbursement of European Union economic development funding to Hungary, daily Magyar Idők reported. With a resolution dated September 23, the Brussels commission closed a probe affecting funding worth about 700 billion forints (EUR 2.24bn), the paper said on Saturday.

Some 530km of bicycle path were built in Hungary during 2010-14, and the government has committed Ft 10 billion to further developments, Development Ministry state secretary László Tasó said yesterday in opening European Mobility Week. Construction of bicycle paths will begin at 80 sites, he added.

Budapest’s Keleti railway station resumed services after 10am on Tuesday. The station was temporarily closed from 9.09am after police action to stop migrants from entering the railway station. Other passengers were allowed to board an international service bound to Vienna. When the station was closed down after 9am for an unspecified period, all passengers were asked to leave the building.
