Recent and new wage hikes in the health-care sector will help Hungary close the pay gap with the other Visegrad Group countries, the state secretary for health care said. The base salary of doctors and pharmacists increased by gross 107,000 forints (EUR 348) from September 1 this year and will rise by another 100,000 forints from November 1, 2017, Zoltán Ónodi-Szűcs said.

The excise tax of petrol will rise by 5 forints per litre and that of diesel by 10 forints per litre from Oct. 1, in line with legislation passed in June linking excise tax on vehicle fuel to global energy prices.
