When I was a child, one of my favorite passtimes was to climb a tree and silently enjoy the peace of this protected setting. Later I became more social, managing student associations and a university club, organizing parties, trips and other events that bring people together.

Originally from a small town near Cincinnati, Ohio, I moved to Budapest from Seattle with my wife, Diane Kappa. We knew we wanted to live in Central Europe and after several years of travelling, we could no longer resist Hungary. I had earlier lived in rural Estonia as a Peace Corps volunteer and knew that I wanted to live in this part of the world. So we picked up and moved!

Mr. Salamin is the Swiss Ambassador to Hungary. He graduated from the University of Lausanne in 1973 with a degree in Law ('Licence') and received his postgraduate diploma in European Law from the University of Paris in 1974.
