- 19 May 2025 3:32 PM
This year’s programme run from 19 to 25 May and once again offers unforgettable experiences for all ages – on land and water – whether you’re a family, nature lover, or adventure seeker.
Hungary’s ten national parks protect and showcase the Carpathian Basin’s most valuable landscapes, many of which are of international significance.
These areas are not only natural treasures, but also cultural and national identity landmarks – true sources of pride.
The ministry emphasised the significant development of Hungary’s national park directorates in recent years.
Visitors can enjoy:
-
349 nature interpretation sites
-
201 educational trails
-
63 exhibition areas
-
34 visitor centres
-
4 arboretums
-
6 local heritage houses
-
40 show caves
Nearly half of these are free to access, making nature’s wonders easily available to everyone.
The parks’ missions are diverse, placing a strong focus on habitat restoration, species conservation, education, and eco-tourism infrastructure development.
In the past eight years alone, 75 new visitor sites have been opened, and 15 nature schools now offer young people hands-on learning experiences guided by trained educators.
Hungary’s national parks are also important economic engines in their regions, creating new opportunities for local businesses, farmers, and artisans, while enhancing rural quality of life and supporting employment.
The National Parks’ branded product range now includes 1,350 high-quality local items from 265 producers – wines, jams, honeys, and handcrafted goods – all rooted in local traditions, sustainable practices, and natural ingredients.
