Last weekend we ventured out into the north-east region of Hungary and visited the beautiful city of Eger. The City of Eger is over a thousand years old, with its glorious historical past, valuable historical building complexes, wines and curative waters is one of the most famous cities of Hungary. It was a bishop's seat as early as during the reign of our first king, Szent István.

The local Macaron Day is inspired by the Jour du Macaron held on the same day in Paris (and the Macaron Day in New York City - see related video below), and will be held this year on 20 March at Akvárium, from 12-6 pm. Hungarians rarely go out for dinner; if they do, they will eat fast food rather than go to a regular restaurant, daily Nepszabadsag reported on Thursday. Only 17 percent of respondents in a recent survey said they ate in a restaurant at least once a month, while 29 percent never did, the paper said.
