Tour de Hongrie Cycling Race, 13 - 17 May

This year’s Tour de Hongrie cycling race will take place mainly in southern Hungary from May 13 to 17. Organizers presented the route for the 47th edition in Budapest on Tuesday. The five-stage event will pass through 70 towns in seven counties, with 15 intermediate sprint points for bonus seconds and 12 categorized climbs.

The MLSZ – or as it was known then, the Federation of Hungarian Footballers – was founded 125 years ago to this day, on 19th January 1901, by representatives of thirteen sports clubs in a private room at the Archduke István Hotel, situated at 1 Akadémia utca in Budapest.

The annual Nemzeti Sport Athlete of the Year gala took place at Budapest’s State Opera House, recognising Hungary’s outstanding sporting achievements in 2025. While the previous year, 2024, featured major events like the Summer Olympics in Paris and the UEFA European Championship in Germany, 2025 still offered notable moments for Hungarian sports fans to celebrate.

HungaroMet, the national weather service, has withdrawn its 2nd degree (orange) alerts issued on Tuesday for freezing rain in Budapest and other parts of the country. The weather service, has however, maintained a first-degree alert for some areas in south-eastern Hungary, where further, scattered sleet is expected.
