Retail sales of household chemicals and cosmetics in Hungary reached 290 billion forints (EUR 919m) in January-October, up 7% from the same period a year earlier, market researcher Nielsen said. Sales of shower gel were up 12%, tissue sales rose 11% and fabric softener sales increased 10%. Stores bigger than 2,500sqm generated 32% of total turnover during the period.

The survey found that the most people do their regular Sunday shopping on other days, while one-fourth of the respondents choose smaller stores. The relevant law allows all shops to be open on the last four Sundays before Christmas.
