It has been rumored in Hungary for years that the Trianon peace dictate was created for 100 years and that Hungary would get back its lost territories by 2020. A historian explains why that is a myth. The Sixty-Four Counties Youth Movement (HVIM) held a torch-lit march commemorating the 95th anniversary of the Trianon peace treaty near Heroes’ Square in Budapest. Participants carried Hungarian and red-and-white-striped flags, the latter associated with the Hungarian far right over the past decade, and a large flag of Szeklerland, chanting the slogan “Down with Trianon!”
