The European Commissionʼs draft 2021-2027 EU budget, which will be released in May, plans to shift EU cohesion funding away from Central and Eastern Europe to countries hit harder by the financial crisis, the Financial Times reported Monday. The EC wants to shift the criteria away from GDP per capita towards core EU values.

I first visited Budapest in 1982. I came with some friends on the overnight train from Warsaw, where I was working at the British Embassy. Howling dogs and misty border crossings - it was like living in a John le Carré novel. Budapest was shrouded in freezing fog all weekend but I still fell in love with the city.

Over a hundred films from 44 countries will be screened at the 2017 “Verzió” documentary film festival from November 14 to 25 in Budapest, Szeged and Pécs. The festival opens with Zaradasht Ahmed’s “Nowhere to Hide”, winner of the Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival.
