In a final ruling citing the law on the right of assembly, Budapest police chief Gábor Bucsek said that such a demonstration would obstruct traffic between the two sides of the city and would therefore breach the rights of the citizens.

However, these cameras are not suitable to be used as a basis for fining drivers, the police declared. Last week, Budapest Mayor István Tarlós told drivers who had been fined based on public space surveillance camera recordings not to pay their fine.
