A biometric ID system has started operating at border control in Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport, an official said on Thursday. Zoltán Török, head of the Airport Police Directorate, said that the system operated on the departure side in order to ensure fast border control.

Over 100 residential buildings and 20 public buildings have been damaged and several tens of thousands of people are without electricity as a consequence of gale-force winds that continued throughout Hungary on Thursday, the disaster management authority said. Most damage was caused in roofs and chimneys and trees fell over air cables in many places.
