    Austria and Germany have agreed to receive thousands of refugees due to arrive at the Hungarian border, Austria's Chancellor Werner Faymann says. Faymann told Austria's APA news agency that he had informed Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban of the decision 'in consultation' with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

  • Photo Article: Refugees Leave Budapest On Foot Towards Austrian Border

    About 2500 migrants decided to leave Budapest on foot on Friday afternoon and started to march westwards, saying they were heading towards Austria and Germany. The crowd includes mostly men and younger migrants but also some disabled persons, as well as families carrying children. Around 4 pm the marching migrants, preparing to walk 175 kilometres to the border, have reached the M1 motorway where the traffic has been stopped.

    Seeking a chance to fight with visiting Romania fans, a violent group of hard-core Hungarian football hooligans gathered and clashed with the police in Budapest’s city center last night. The police said on Friday morning that sixteen have been detained for truculence and vandalism and one additional fan was arrested for pushing over a police officer. The rambunctious hooligans threw petards, knocked over bins and damaged several cars parking on the streets.
