Hundreds of migrants, blocked from travelling to Germany by train, have bedded down for a second night outside Budapest's main Keleti railway station. Hungary is the main arrival point for those crossing the Balkans by land. "From the government, we didn't receive anything, but from the Hungarian people, they are so cute, so nice for us," said one Syrian woman.
A left-wing columnist contends that Hungary should do more to care for migrants trapped in Budapest. Right-wing commentators, on the other hand, find it absurd that Hungary is called on to stop migrants from proceeding to western Europe but at the same time is criticised for erecting a fence in an effort to stop migrants.
Hundreds of angry migrants have been demonstrating outside Budapest's Keleti railway station. Authorities closed the station earlier to check travellers' documents. Most trains from the station head west towards neighbouring Austria and Germany.

By Liz Frommer: Over 2,000 immigrants packed Budapest's Keleti railway station this past Sunday night, a stark reminder of Europe's current immigration debacle. Mostly hidden under the main square, the juxtaposition of the hundreds of families stranded in tents, hungry and worn, with the luminous facade of Keleti's 19th century station was eerie. Strewn about this vast passageway leading commuters from the metros and buses to the station, as well as from one side to the other of the square above, there was barely room to walk as migrants slept, ate, played, and bathed everywhere. And then there were those who just sat and stared.
Updated Press Release: Due to the rainy weather, the organizers postponed the 10th Főzdefeszt to the second weekend of September at Felvonulási tér. They said, they would not like to see their favourite audience trying to sample the latest Hungarian craft-beers standing in the rain. The new date for the Főzdefeszt is 11-13 September.
