The contemporary dance theatre performance Cross/roads deals with the challenges people of the modern age face, focusing primarily on the pursuit of simplicity and the desire to get rid of clichés and fixations.
In the spirit of workshop-type work organised for the productions, the Duna Dance Workshop regularly invites guest choreographers whose creative world is close to the company's artistic approach and to contemporary dance inspired by folk dance.
In 2024 the art director of the Duna Dance Workshop asked Péter Darabos, dancer of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble, founder and art director of the Notitia Dance Workshop, to cooperate as a choreographer.
"What dilemmas and challenges are people facing today? To what extent do our ingrained habits and burdens hinder our progress? We're all looking for our opportunities but it's easy to get lost in the distortions of reality. In the performance we are searching for a way to realise a simpler, cleaner life, focusing on how we can put aside the expectations that are no longer useful for us, thus achieving that we can shape the directions of our lives not only superficially, based on illusions, but with better contoured decisions.
The performance is inspiring and thought-provoking, pointing out that we always have a choice for change, and the key to this is experiencing our inner silence." (Péter Darabos)
