Talks and an LP fair accompany Budapest Ritmo Film Days, held 4-5 April at iconic Toldi Cinema. The stories behind music, Mali blues, Japanese folk songs, the fermentation of bossa nova: Ritmo Film Days come as colorful as the festival.
See the intimate portraits of great musicians ‒ alongside Santana, Joan Baez, Fatoumata Diawara and Eugene Hütz of Gogol Bordello ‒, unique musical languages like Japanese folk, Mali blues, Turkish hip-hop, and the South American urban styles of 60s-70s.
Friday debuts this year’s Ritmo film, a rediscovery of ‘nóta’, led by Ilka Kisgyörgy and directed by Áron Mátyássy. You can also rewatch iconic Ritmo films of previous years, atmospheric productions with Mihály Dresch, MORDÁI, Uljana Quartet, Károly Cserepes.
Saturday sees two guest selections: video clips submitted to MOME Open, and music-themed shorts featured in Friss Hús International Shortfilm Festival’s program.
