'Lila Downs', National Concert Hall, 18 May
"Lila Downs has a Mexican mother and North American father and is now one of the great musical ambassadors for Mexico, since she sings Mexican folk, Indian songs, cumbia and even jazz in peerless fashion. She established herself internationally with the film Frida for which she also wrote the music.

She has a three octave voice, but can imbue such character into each individual note that each one seems to have its own sound world.

Sometimes, it is as if each song is being sung by several different singers but this is due to Lila Down’s phenomenal vocal prowess.

Along with the choice of song, she creates phenomenal drama. Her performances are frequently accompanied by visual elements and videos, but this evening she will be concentrating on the music, and has chosen her musicians accordingly.

Prices: 1700, 3100, 4800, 5900 Ft"
