Hungarian Weeklies Protest New Media Bill
"Weeklies Élet és Irodalom (Life and Literature) and Magyar Narancs (Hungarian Orange) appear with blank front pages in protest at the new media bill this week, while 168 Óra (Hours) and Népszava also expressed their displeasure regarding the bill that Népszabadság says sets out to rule the entire domestic press.

Népszabadság said if the House passes the act in its present form, it will turn to the Constitutional Court because restricting freedom of the press to this extent cannot be justified.

Fidesz MP Erzsébet Menczer responded that “everybody does what they can: newspapers can be published with up to 40 blank pages if the readers buy them.”
