Budapest High School Celebrates America Day
The Károlyi István High School in Budapest organized an elaborate America Day program for 250 students on February 20, 2013. Embassy representative Joe Klinger discussed American culture and why historically the United States has been considered a land of opportunities. Veronika Nagy, an educational adviser from the Fulbright Commission, gave a presentation on the American higher education and study abroad opportunities for Hungarian students.

In addition to the local district mayor, representatives from the Hungarian Ministry of Human Resources attended and supported the program.

The America Day program was established in 2009 by the U.S. Embassy in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Culture. Over the last 4 years, events have been held in nearly 20 high schools across Hungary.
