Hungarian Business Leaders Press For Country Strategy
The Hungarian European Business Council (HEBC), a body of business leaders established by the European Round Table of Industrialists 16 years ago, pressed for the creation of a comprehensive country strategy in an annual report published on Thursday.

The report, entitled “Sustainable and Inclusive”, addresses predictable economic and tax policy, the support of innovation and technological development, the importance of education and language instruction, and the necessity of clamping down further on the shadow economy and corruption.

A country strategy would contribute in large part to boosting predictability and competitiveness, said former HEBC chairman László Kerekes.

Hungary can achieve the next degree of development only with the cooperation of all players in the government, the economy, science and society, said HEBC chairman Roland Jakab, managing director of Ericsson Magyarország.

The top managers of the local units of ABB, AkzoNobel, British Telecom, Ericsson, GDF SUEZ, Heineken, Magyar Telekom, Nestle, Nokia, OMV, Philips, SAP, Shell, SKF and Volvo Group Trucks make up the members of HEBC.
