LMP trusts that the EU’s Luxembourg court will give the green light to the initiative pressing for a European policy to ensure equality between regions within the EU and the sustainability of regional cultures.

The proposed policy would ensure a special European focus to all those regions that stand out against their environment in terms of ethnic, cultural, linguistic or religious aspects.

If the court rules in favour of the initiative, the Szekler organisation and its partners will launch a signature drive to gather public support for the proposal, LMP said.

European Court proceedings concerning the initiative were requested after the European Commission decided that it was not within the scope of its legislation. In the lawsuit, the Commission has been supported by Slovakia, Greece and Romania, while Hungary has sided with the complainants.
