Winemaker Takler Celebrates 20th Anniversary

In 1996, Ferenc Takler founded his winery on a single plot of almost one hectare situated to the south of Szekszárd, in the Decsi vineyard, which still serves as the center of the estate today, according to the statement. The first Kadarka, Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch), Bikavér (Bull’s Blood) and Cabernet Franc wines were made in the cellar of their farmhouse, originally built in 1927.
Creation of the emblematic wines of the winery can be dated to this period, when the first plantations were established in 2000. These plots at the Görögszó, Strázsahegy and Felső-cinka vineyards have provided grapes for the wineryʼs top Merlot wine. Regnum is a Szekszárd-style classical Bordeaux blend, dominated by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, while Primarius, the top Merlot wine of the winery, is made only in excellent vintages.
The Takler mansion (Takler Kúria), a farmhouse in Sárköz, serves as a wine-tasting venue with a restaurant and hotel services, along with a wellness unit and several rooms for conferences and other events. The facility was opened to the public last year, following a renovation started in the 2000s.
Ferenc Takler, who was named Winemaker of the Year in 2004, has been working together with his two sons from the very beginning. Today, Ferenc Takler Jr. is the chief winemaker in the winery, responsible for the whole range of processing and maturing tasks, while András Takler manages the company’s commercial and marketing activities.
Currently, the family runs a complex estate with its own product portfolio. The future challenge of the winery is to continue this work at the highest level, at the same time focusing even on the minor details, the press release stated.
