Saint Margaret's Ash Wednesday Service, Budapest, 1 March
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season. The tradition of imposing a small ashen cross on the forehead of the faithful dates back to at least the eighth century, but probably goes back even earlier in Christian history.

By the later Middle Ages the rite had become nearly universal. It was discontinued for a time in England following the Reformation but later restored. It remains a somber reminder even today of our need for repentance and conversion.

Our Ash Wednesday service this year includes the celebration of Holy Eucharist and the ritual Imposition of Ashes.

Address: 1071 Budapest, Városligeti fasor 17

Wednesday Evening, 1 March 6.00 pm.

Make a good beginning to the Lenten season. No need to sign up or register. Just show up…!
